Improving Intergroup Relations Through Online Contact

This study examined an online professional development program designed to support meaningful acquaintance and reduce stereotypes prejudices among teachers from different cultures in Israeli society. The rationale of the was based on premise that indirect contact might improve intergroup relations diverse societies. progress gradually, starting basic leading a deeper acquaintance, using variety computer-mediated communication (CMC) tools. Findings indicated upon completion, participants were more respectful towards one another than pre-program. They held positive view learning open multiculturalism (more tolerant accepting others previously) while still maintaining their respective cultural identities. noticed gradual progression task design, expressly noting this stepwise structure supported forging connection then fostering familiarization. fills gap research through demonstrating ways (indirect contact) can be used promote groups society.
